What if your wardrobe could come to you?
For the launch of the new Steve Madden Iconic Collection, we transformed an InfoWheels Boutique into a fully branded, mobile Iconic Closet, in collaboration with SO PR.
For approximately six weeks, the Iconic Closet travelled across the Netherlands, visiting offices, publishing houses, media and creators. From Amsterdam and Groningen to destinations across Europe, the mobile closet brought the collection directly to its audience turning a simple product drop into an experience.
From InfoWheels Boutique to Iconic Closet
The compact mobile unit was completely branded and styled to reflect the look and feel of the Iconic Collection. Inside, the Boutique was transformed into a fashion-forward wardrobe experience, filled with Steve Madden shoes and designed to feel less like a traditional product presentation and more like stepping into your own dream closet.
Rather than creating a temporary installation at a single location, the entire experience could simply move to the next destination. The mobility of the InfoWheels Boutique made it possible to bring the same branded experience directly to an office, editorial desk, media house or city centre.
Bringing the closet to the audience
The idea behind the Iconic Closet was simple: don’t wait for people to come to the brand. Bring the brand to them.
The first Dutch stops included Amsterdam and Groningen, where the closet visited publishing and media environments. The campaign reached leading fashion and lifestyle titles, including Vogue Netherlands, ELLE, Cosmopolitan, LINDA., Marie Claire, Grazia, Fashionchick and more.
Rather than receiving another package at their desk, editors and creators could walk into an actual Steve Madden closet. They could explore the collection, find their favourite pair and create their own moment around the experience.
As the creative agency behind the campaign put it: “A closet full of Icons, on the move.”
More than a shoe delivery
A shoe delivery normally ends when the package arrives. Here, the arrival itself became part of the campaign.
The sight of a fully branded closet pulling up outside an office created an immediate point of attention. Once inside, visitors could interact with the collection, try different styles and discover their favourite pair.
The experience also created a natural opportunity for content. Influencers and creators joined the tour, sharing their own Iconic Closet moments and turning the physical experience into social content.
The result was a campaign that connected product, place, people and content in one mobile format.
A closet built to travel
The Iconic Closet did not stop in the Netherlands. As part of the wider European campaign, the mobile unit continued its journey through cities including Munich, Düsseldorf, Antwerp and Paris.
The same branded environment could travel from one city to the next, maintaining a recognisable Steve Madden identity throughout the campaign while adapting to different audiences and locations.
For the public-facing stops, visitors were invited to step inside the experience, discover the latest styles and take part in giveaways, including the chance to win €1,000 in shopping money.
This allowed the Iconic Closet to serve multiple purposes within one campaign: a PR experience for editors and creators, a content opportunity for social audiences and a consumer-facing activation on the road.
Where fashion, PR and mobility meet
The project brought together PR, creative concept, experiential marketing and mobile event production.
SO PR supported the PR and creator side of the activation, while we provided the mobile platform and transformed the InfoWheels Boutique into the physical expression of the Iconic Closet concept.
For a fashion brand, this combination offers something a traditional pop-up cannot: the ability to take the experience to multiple audiences without rebuilding it at every destination.
For Steve Madden, the Iconic Collection was therefore not confined to one retail location or showroom. The collection could travel directly to the people who influence, create and consume fashion content.
